Aborting attempt to cross track

Halt, lizard crossing! This one just crawled out from the pond and wanting to cross to the adjacent pond to the right. It stopped in its path on seeing me. We eyeballed each other for a few minutes without moving. I took the opportunity to take a few shots of the creature. It looked like a mother to be.

After a few moments I won the starring contest. It turned around and back off to where it came from. Maybe I felt much more confident as this one was not at big as the earlier two that surprised me.
The monitor lizards are tree climbers, feeding on eggs in nests high up in the trees. Here is on taking a snooze.
